Description
Parkland County has opportunity for a temporary, full-time Senior Planner, Current Planning working approximately March 2023 to April 2025. Reporting to the Manager, Current & Long Range Planning, the Senior Planner, Current Planning, oversees current planning functions including preparation of, and recommendations for decision and/or action on, subdivisions, redistricting, development agreements, and preparation of various non-statutory plans, policies, reports and studies of a current planning nature. The Senior Planner, Current Planning also oversees technical support staff for addressing and offsite levy programs. This position supervises current planning staff and provides support to the Manager through a variety of current planning projects and issues.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
- Post-secondary degree in Planning or a related discipline (e.g. Geography) or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to Current Planning with increased degree of responsibility. A Master’s degree in planning or related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a municipal planning environment. Previous supervisory experience is required.
- Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners or registration as an Alberta Community Planner is an asset.
- Exceptional working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Excellent writing, presentation, negotiation, organization, and time-management skills.
- Capable of working within tight deadlines with consistent heavy workloads on an ongoing basis.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
The total rewards package for this position includes:
A starting annual salary of $97,585 - $121,982 based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
