Parkland County has Temporary, Full-time positions available in the Engineering Services Department for Data Collectors (Survey Assistants) from April 30 to August 31, 2018. This position is appropriate for post-secondary students looking for engineering related experience. You will be responsible for accurately collecting roadway inventory, roadway surface condition data then summarizing field data into an asset management database utilizing mobile hardware. You will be required to work alone on Parkland County’s rural roads with minimal supervision.
Data Collectors are responsible for collecting roadway data, database entry and providing assistance to the department in the planning process regarding review and revisions of asset management reference material. The supervisor may expand duties to include GPS data collection, water, wastewater and storm water facility data collection, traffic counts, sidewalk assessments and various engineering related duties. You must adhere to all safety measures outlined in related policies while involved with any aspect of the duties required to ensure work is performed in a safe environment.
- Enrollment in an engineering related post-secondary program.
- Proficiency with computer application and data entry. Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) is required (preferred exposure to database & GIS systems).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. A current Driver’s Abstract must be provided.
Rate of Pay: $23.40 per hour
Hours of Work: 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week
This position is covered by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 955 Collective Agreement.
